Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish | Review

Liz Earle is a brand that I go back to time and time again and over the past year I have come to own a plethora of their cult products. The one product which I will always use is their Cleanse and Polish. Renowned in the blogging community for its amazing cleansing abilities this is the one product I will always return to when my skin needs an immediate boost.

Designed to suit all skin types it is packed full of natural ingredients such as eucalyptus and cocoa butter and is designed to fully cleanse the skin whilst helping to clear and smooth at the same time. As with all Liz Earle products this has a distinctive herbal aroma, something that I personally find pleasantly soothing.

The product itself is designed to work in 2 phases. The first phase being to cleanse. I add a pump and a half between my fingers and then work into my skin. The great thing about this product is that you can use it across the eye area without worrying about it stinging. I tend to do my face first and then the eye area last to save smudging mascara and other eye makeup across my face. The second phase is to polish. You do this using the soft muslin cloth which comes with the starter kit however you can buy these separately for a few quid! I will soak the muslin cloth in as hot water I can handle and then start removing the product using circular motions which means your skin gets a good exfoliation at the same time. Unlike some cleansers I have tried this does not leave my skin feeling tight nor dry just ridiculously smooth and moisturised.

In my own opinion this is like magic in a bottle, seriously and I love the fact that despite being of the higher end range you won’t break the bank purchasing it. The starter kit* is available for £14.25 and includes a soft pouch, a 100ml bottle of Cleanse and Polish and 2 muslin cloths, so its an absolute steal. If you are looking to introduce someone or even yourself to this cult product then this is definitely a good start.

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish is available from John Lewis and all larger department stores or you can visit the Liz Earle website by clicking the link to find out further details about the brand

Current Skincare Regime and Favourite Products

Current Skincare Regime and Favourite Products

Over time my skin care regime has changed and will probably continue to do so as I discover new products and techniques however with this in mind I thought I would share with you my current routine and favourite products at the moment! My evening and morning regime is pretty much the same although I tend to be more relaxed about it in the morning and may skip certain aspects if I am in a rush for work :)

I got my Clarisonic about 6 months ago or more and I have been in love with it ever since. I tend to use this in the evening with my Liz Earle Hot Polish Cleanser which I then rinse with a clean muslin cloth. In the morning I tend to skip the Clarisonic and just use the cleanser with a muslin cloth. The Clarisonic comes with a sensitive brush head although I invested in the deep pore brush head which is a lot deeper cleansing.

After cleansing, I tone. I tend to get dry/oily skin but if I allow it to get dry then it really notices so I use a moisturising toner such as ROC dry skin toner which I apply with a cotton pad. This also ensure that any last dregs of cleanser is removed.

After toning, I use a pore perfecting serum which claims to minimise pores and blemishes. I love The Body Shop Seaweed Pore Perfecting range which is a light weight serum which sinks into the skin with out feeling greasy.

Moisurising is a must, even though the serum can be used alone it doesn't feel right not moisturising! I Iike to use an oil free moisturiser which allows me to hydrate my skin without causing it to look oily and shiny. This does both by mattifying the skin and hydrating at the same time. This is my first time using a facial product from The Sanctuary and I have to say I am loving it so far!

Finally I use an eye cream. I never used to use an eye cream yet since I started I have noticed a huge difference both when I wake up and in the mornings makeup sits so much better when the under eye area is hydrated. As I get older I realise that it is vital to start now :)

Have you tried any of these products and what is your skin care regime?

Liz Earle Brightening Treatment Mask and Exfoliator Review

Hey Everyone,

I hope you are all having a great Friday :)! Todays blog is going to be about some Liz Earle products. To give you a little background I only discovered Liz Earle a few months ago after hearing some amazing reviews on the Hot Polish Cleanser. And let me say it did not disappoint and I am now on to my second bottle having been completely converted. Having been so impressed with the cleanser I thought I would check out some of the other products in the range and whilst browsing in John Lewis 2 or 3 weeks ago I left with the 'Gentle Face Exfoliator' and 'Brightening Treatment Mask'.

What strikes me most about the Liz Earle range is the price. For a 'higher' end brand they are reasonably priced at approximately £13 per item. The mask I got was 50ml however given that I will only be using this once or twice a week should last a considerable amount of time. The same can be said for the exfoliant which is 70ml. I opted for the pump versions, although as with most of Liz Earle products you can usually get them in tube form as well. I only opted for the pump as I personally like this style and find it easier to store in the bathroom :).

Starting with the exfoliator I have been using this a couple of times a week, this being about the 3rd week. I generally use the Hot Cloth Cleanser with my Clarisonic, remove with a muslin cloth and then use the exfoliant afterwards. I tend to use 1-2 pumps but 1 should do you good and just use the tips of my fingers to work all over my face concentrating on my problematic areas which tend to be the nose and chin. I then rinse again using the same muslin cloth. Now, I have tried ALOT of exfoliants and a majority of them have so few beads that they don't actually feel as though they are making a difference however this had a lot of small beads which felt gentle but actually felt like they were doing a job. And the smell is gorgeous. As with most of Liz Earle products they have a generic scent, it is kind of spa like, herb-like even. I know some people have mentioned they dislike the scent yet this is something that draws me to the product, I love it! The only problem I did find is that you have to really rinse to ensure that all the product is removed and it is an idea to tone afterwards to ensure that all the exfoliating product is removed as if you leave any on you can definitely feel it when you apply moisturiser.

Moving onto the mask. I tend to use this on the days where I exfoliate and usually do this in the evening when I have spare time. The instructions state to leave this on between 30 seconds and 2 mins so I tend to put this on before I jump in the bath or shower which is perhaps a little longer than recommended. The mask is a clay mask however I found that it did not dry like regular clay masks, this may have been as I used in the shower/bath and the steam prevented it yet I would of like to have seen it dry slightly. So I found this a little disappointing. Again, I remove this with a muslin cloth although unlike the exfoliant and hot cloth cleanser I have not seen a huge improvement whilst using this. Maybe I need to give it more time but although I would definitely 100% buy the cleanser again I am not so sure that I would buy the mask again.

Have you tried these products and if so what are your thoughts?

Soap and Glory The Fab Pore Hot Cloth Cleanser

£10.00 at Boots.com, click here to buy

Being  a Soap and Glory fan I own almost all of their products in their skin care range however I was yet to try  The Fab Pore Hot Cloth Cleanser. So when I saw it in Boots a few weeks ago I was keen to try it. In all honesty I wanted to get the Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser however this was not available in my town and therefore I thought I would try this. Knowing that Soap and Glory come out with excellent products I was sure this would not let me down. Being slight cheaper and I mean slightly than the Liz Earle by a few £ I was keen to see whether this really did live up to its highly popular rival.

In the box you get a 100ml tube of the cleanser and a muslin cloth. I would of liked to have perhaps seen 2 muslin cloths but they are so cheap to purchase this was not a big deal.

The product itself contains Pathenol (no i don't know either...), Sweet Almond, Orange and Lavender Oils. What struck me most was the lavender scent, Im not a big fan of lavender yet I could tolerate this. It reminded me of something that would be used in a spa in a facial it was soothing, and relaxing and smells pleasant enough.

The texture can be likened to a thick moisturiser yet not at all greasy. You apply a fairly generous amount of product to your hands and massage into the skin. I tend to focus on my most problematic areas such as the T zone first and then work on my eye area. As the product removes make up and thoroughly cleanses the skin there is no need to remove your make up first however I would concentrate on the eye area last to prevent rubbing all your eye make up over the rest of your face which yes, I did do on my first use.

Once you have applied this all over your face, massage well to ensure all make up is brought to the surface and leave for 1 minute. You then take the muslin cloth and submerse in hot water, not too hot mind you that you burn your face but hot enough to touch and use this to remove all the product.

If you are using this to remove all your make up then you will see that the cloth does get dirty very quickly. A quick since in hot water should do the trick however I would recommend only using the same muslin cloth a couple of times, 3 at the most to prevent it harbouring germs, hence why I would recommend purchasing a couple of spares which you can generally pick up in most drug stores or the body shop does a pack for minimal cost. The cloth can be then washed and used again, either boil the cloth and then dry or put it in the wash preferably on a hotter temp so perhaps with towels or sheets that you would use a hotter temperature for.

My overall opinion on this product was why had I not purchased this sooner. Although I will be sticking to my general facial washes and Clarisonic for a majority of cleansing, for removing make up thoroughly this will be my go to product. I have since purchased the Liz Earle cleanser however am yet to try it until I have finished this product but if it carrys on the way it has then that could be very soon. I will look forward trying the cult Liz Earle product and reporting back :)

Have you tried this cleanser in comparison to the Liz Earle and if so what did you think?
